Commitment

Ever since it was founded, JCDecaux has been committed to conserving resources. From our efforts to reduce our environmental impacts, our various pro-active policies have evolved into a comprehensive approach to sustainable development. We have made sustainable development a central tenet of the Group's strategy, transforming it into a key driver of innovation and competitiveness.

Eco-friendly

JCDecaux Oman, as a “City Provider”, launched O’Bike with Muscat Municipality, a Pilot Project for the Self-Service Bicycle system in Muscat on the occasion of the “Tour of Oman 2013“. Contributing to the development of a new eco-friendly service offering to the public a fun and unique outdoor activity.

Energy efficient

For the strategic partnership with RTA in Dubai, JCDecaux has developed a new lamp post sign, consisting mostly recyclable materials and reducing its energy consumption by approximately 39% compared to similar products in the market.

Solar

In line with the Qatar National Vision 2030 and following the strong efforts already undertaken by the authorities to empower Qatari society with all its categories to adopt a more sustainable, efficient and eco-friendly way of living at home, work, and in all aspects of their daily lives, ELAN Decaux successfully installed the first 21 solar-powered bus shelters in the city of Doha. Thanks to this new solar-power system, ELAN Decaux’s bus shelters have seen their electricity consumption reduced by almost a quarter and are now totally autonomous since they run entirely on solar renewable energy.

Sustainable energy

Since 2016, 71% of JCDecaux markets have at least partially replaced existing lighting with LEDs in their furniture. Our green energy goal is to cover 100% of our electricity consumption from renewable sources by 2022 – we are currently on track with a 2018 record of 69%.
